Lumino The Dentists is New Zealand's largest single ownership dental group and has a network of high quality practices across the country, all of which operate as part of the Lumino group. The majority of fee income is patient funded, except for Government funding for specific dental health initiatives. Andy Tapper is general manager of Lumino The Dentists. Andy, a qualified lawyer with accounting and economics degrees, is an experienced business development executive.
In 2008, Abano entered into partnership with Dental Partners in Australia and has a 70% shareholding. Dental Partners has a network of practices across Queensland, NSW, ACT, South Australia and Victoria, with a mix of city, suburban and regional practices. Mike Timoney, a founding shareholder, is the general manager of Dental Partners.
The dental industry is characterised by a predominance of small dental partnerships, a mainly private revenue stream with limited public funding and little or no marketing or branding.The New Zealand dental market is worth approximately $550 million including the Government’s school dental service and specialist dentistry. The Australian dental market is worth approximately A$5 billion.
