Two new dental practices join Lumino network

Media release
NEW ZEALAND’S LARGEST DENTAL NETWORK
CONTINUES SUCCESSFUL NATIONAL ROLLOUT

New Zealand’s largest dental network, Lumino Care Dental, added another two practices to its network this week, with the acquisition of its first South Island practice in Dunedin, and a second practice in Wellington.

Lumino is the dental brand for leading healthcare operator and investor, Abano Healthcare Group, and now has 20 dental practices across the North and South Island, with over more than 50 practicing clinicians.

General manager of Lumino, Mr Frank Janssen, said: “We are very pleased to have these two practices join the network, as a part of our national rollout of the brand. Our vision is to have Lumino dental practices throughout New Zealand in two years time, offering a consistent high quality dental experience to all customers, no matter where you are.

“Both our new acquisitions – Pitt St Family Dental in Dunedin and Miramar Dental Health Centre in Wellington – are prime examples of the type of practice that we are looking to bring into the group as part of our plan to have the leading dentists in the country operating under the Lumino brand.”

Pitt Street Family Dental is a well established Dunedin dental practice, and employs five dentists and one dental hygienist.

Miramar Dental Health Centre in Wellington was founded by one of Wellington’s leading dentists, Nick Tramoundanas, who was one of the first dentists in New Zealand to purchase the Cerec (Ceramic Dental Restoration) system. Nick and Karen Harris (another Lumino member) are the only two certified Cerec trainers in the country. The Miramar practice has three dentists and a hygienist and operates Monday to Saturday.

Frank continued: “The Lumino brand enables us to offer an attractive and innovative career package for dentists, and we have had a strong and positive response from the industry about opportunities within the Lumino network.

“The costs of setting up or buying into individual practices continue to rise, and Lumino’s network structure provides dentists with the opportunity to focus on clinical services without the hassle of running a business, or locking up personal capital.”

Lumino is adding practices across the country, as it focuses on creating a national network of high quality, branded dental practices over the next two years. In the past 12 months, Lumino has acquired eight practices, with further acquisitions under investigation.

The secret behind the network’s success is the consumer offer, says Frank.

“Not only do we provide our customers with a quality dental service in pleasant surroundings, we are also the only dental brand in New Zealand to offer FlyBuys. Our number one focus is on customer satisfaction, from the moment you walk in the door, to the follow up contact we have with our patients”.
