Ted van Arkel to retire from Abano Board
Abano Healthcare Group Limited (NZX:ABA) advises that Ted van Arkel will be retiring from the Board at the 2018 Annual Shareholder Meeting.
Ted was appointed to the Board in 2011. During his tenure Abano moved from a multi-disciplinary healthcare provider to having a sole focus on the $11-billion trans-Tasman dental market, significantly grew its two dental networks and expanded its presence in Australia.
Chairman of Abano, Trevor Janes, said: “As Abano has increasingly moved towards the private healthcare sector, Ted’s experience in the retail and consumer sector has been of value to the company. The Board thanks Ted for his significant contribution over the past seven years.”
The Board’s ongoing succession planning has seen the appointment of new directors with appropriate skills and relevant expertise and knowledge to contribute to Abano as it builds its share of the dental market. In particular, two new directors have been appointed in the last 18 months, who have clinical expertise and hands-on experience in the healthcare sector, including Dr Tracey Batten who was appointed in May 2018.
