Abano Announces Successor for Chairman
Abano Healthcare Group (NZX: ABA) advises that current Chairman, Trevor Janes, has elected to step down from his role as Chairman at the close of the Annual Meeting in early October 2018. He will remain as a Director until the 2019 Annual Meeting to complete his current term.
The Board has unanimously elected Pip Dunphy as incoming Chairman and she will take up the role at the close of the 2018 Annual Meeting.
Trevor has been a member of the Abano Board since September 2005 and Chair since 2011. During this time, the company has transitioned from a multi-sector healthcare investor into the owner and operator of Australasia’s largest corporate dental group.
Trevor said it had been a privilege to serve as Chairman for the Abano Board for the past seven years.
“As Abano has transitioned to solely focus on its trans-Tasman dental growth, we need Directors with experience in the health sector as well as Australasian market experience, and this has been reflected in recent appointments. Now is the right time for me to step down as Chair. Pip is a high calibre director and I am confident she will provide strong leadership as Abano’s new Chairman.”
The incoming Chairman, Pip Dunphy, has been a director of Abano since September 2012. She currently chairs the Risk Assurance and Audit committee and has been Deputy Chairman since November 2015. Pip is an experienced director and has worked in the New Zealand financial markets for over 20 years, with a wide number of New Zealand and offshore companies in the areas of capital raising and risk management. She is currently chairman of First Gas, deputy chair of Transpower and on the board of the Fonterra Shareholders’ Fund.
