Abano Appoints Mike Allen as a Director
Trans-Tasman dental company, Abano Healthcare Group (NZX: ABA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Allen as a director, effective from 1 March 2019.
Mike is an experienced director with a background in investment banking and general management in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. He is currently a director on several New Zealand and international companies including chair of Investore Property, and director for Tainui Group Holdings, China Construction Bank and Johnston’s Coachlines.
Mike was formerly head of Westpac Institutional Bank and led Mergers and Acquisitions at Southpac Corporation. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
Chair of Abano, Pip Dunphy, said: “In line with the Board’s succession plan, Mike has been appointed to enable an orderly succession ahead of the retirement of Trevor Janes and Danny Chan later this year. It is important that we have directors with the appropriate skills, experience, knowledge and expertise. Mike’s international and governance experience and his expertise in risk and audit make him a valued addition to the Board.”
Mike will take up the role of Chair of Abano’s Risk Assurance and Audit Committee.
Mike Allen has been appointed by the current Abano Directors, as permitted under Abano’s constitution. He will hold office until Abano’s 2019 Annual Meeting at which time he will offer himself for election by shareholders. The Board has determined that Mike will be an independent director.
